Soccer Shots is held on Monday's from

1:05-1:50pm.
A Free Class trial will be held on Monday, September 9th at 1:00pm on the grass,  outside of Room 5. 

Class Descriptions: 

 Ballet

Ballet is the "backbone" on all dance training. In ballet the student will learn grace, elegance, technique, discipline, flexibility, stamina, and endurance. 

 

Pre-K Ballet (Ages 3-5) – Leap, twirl, and fly with us! Students will be introduced to ballet through music and creative movement, while learning basic ballet vocabulary and positions for the feet and arms. Ballet teaches students about following directions, spatial awareness and taking turns, coordination, body awareness, flexibility, self-expression, self-confidence, rhythm and musical counting. 

 

Beginning Ballet - Students will learn the basic fundamentals of classical ballet. Class will focus on basic ballet technique, vocabulary and musicality. Students will be introduced to elementary barre, center work, and across the floor. Students are also introduced to body awareness, building strength and flexibility, coordination, grace and self expression. 

Intermediate Ballet - Students will learn classical ballet terminology and technique. Class will focus on Ballet positions, proper body alignment, terminology/vocabulary and musicality. Students will be introduced to fundamental barre work, center work, across the floor, combinations, and choreography. Students are encouraged to focus on body awareness, strength, flexibility, alignment, and muscle awareness, working on positions of the arms, direction of the body, and movement quality.

Advanced Ballet (Pre-Pointe and Pointe) -This class is for Pre-pointe and Beginner Pointe students. Students will learn the fundamentals of Pointe such as strengthening the, feet, ankles, legs, develop proper body alignment. Students will work on flexibility and conditioning exercises to prepare our dancers for pointe shoes. Class will also focus on ballet technique, terminology/vocabulary and musicality, fundamental barre work, center work, across the floor, combinations. Students are required to have proper posture and turn-out, a well-elevated releve on demi-pointe with straight knees, and correct distribution of body weight both on two legs and on one leg. Students also require the emotional and physical maturity level necessary for the commitment and physical demands that pointe entails.

Pre-pointe studentswill execute all exercises on demi-pointe to strengthen calves, ankles, and arches and will learn how demi-pointe steps will be executed once on pointe. 

Beginner Pointestudents will execute some exercises on demi-pointe and some on pointe, progressing to more exercises on pointe as their strength and technique improves. Exercises for all students will begin at the barre and progress to the center to master balance and increase strength.

***Class will also focus on ballet technique, proper body alignment, terminology/vocabulary and musicality. Students will work on fundamental barre work, center work, across the floor, combinations, and choreography. Students are encouraged to focus on body awareness, alignment, and muscle awareness, working on positions of the arms, direction of the body, and movement quality.

Tap

Pre-K Tap (Ages 3-5)Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, timing, style and sound. This tap class will teach students the difference between the toe tap and the heel taps and how to dance using these different parts of the feet. Tap teaches students about following directions, spatial awareness and taking turns, coordination, body awareness, flexibility, self-expression, self-confidence, rhythm and musical counting. 
 

Beginning tap-  is for students who have never had tap or may have had tap experience, but are still on the beginning level. Beginning tap consists ofexercises which focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. 

Note: We have gently used Tap shoes for $5.00. Stop by or email us to try a pair on. 

 

Intermediate/ Advanced Tap - In Tap class, students will work on tempos, rhythms, Tap combinations and inspiring choreographies. Tap exercises will be introduced through warm-ups, center floor, and across the floor tap steps. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. 

Creative Movement 

Dance Fun/Creative Movement (Ages 3-5)Be free and fly like a bird! Swim slow like a fish! Stomp like a strong elephant! Dance Fun allows children to express themselves, as they learn the basic forms of dance through playbased creative movement, use of props, stories, music and rhythmical patterns, all while fostering independence and body awareness. Students will be introduced to the concepts of body, energy, space, & time as they explore themselves, their imagination and creativity. This class also teaches students about following directions, spatial awareness and taking turns, coordination, body awareness, flexibility, self-expression, self-confidence, rhythm and musical counting. 

Hip Hop

Pre-K Hip Hop (Ages 3-5) - Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, along with traditional hip hop styles such as, popping, locking, and grooving.. This class will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Basic hip hop moves are taught through creative movement and play, use of props, and obstacle courses around he dance room. Great for learning rhythm, following directions, taking turns, developing gross motor skill, improving balance, self expression, and body awareness. 

 

Beginning Hip Hop - This class provides a structured method of learning various Hip Hop dance movements in a fun-filled and vibrant class environment. Instructors use todays popular children’s music to create fun cutting edge choreographies and combinations. Hip Hop helps students to increase flexibility, strength, precision, and creativity to find their own style, boosting self-confidence. Original choreography will be taught, allowing students to discover their own hip hop style in a stress-free and fun environment, encouraging confidence building, independent creativity, and teamwork.

 

Intermediate/ Advanced Hip Hop - Classes include warm up, moving across the floor, and style explorations (popping, locking, gliding, contemporary). This class provides a structured method of learning various Hip Hop dance movements in a fun-filled and vibrant class environment. Instructors use hip music to create fun cutting edge choreographies and combinations. Hip Hop helps students to increase flexibility, strength, precision, and creativity to find their own style, while boosting self-confidence.

Jazz & Contemporary 

Intermediate/ Advanced Jazz  This class combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance. Classes include warm up, isolations, stretches, across the floor progressions, leaps, turns, and choreography combinations. Exercises focus on increasing flexibility, balance and strength, rhythms and isolation of body parts, and expressing personal style. As students progress, the curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. Students will also practice precision and throughacross the floor patterns, center floor, and short dance routines. 

Performing Arts

Pre-K Music Fun (Ages 3-5) - Music Fun introduces children to the world of music. Children will learn about different  instruments and how they make sound. They will have an opportunity to play many different percussion instruments, as well as the piano. Students will work on language development through learning to read and sing introductory songs, while having the freedom to move and express themselves through sounds and music. 

 

Piano (Private Lessons) -  Mrs. Marina offers private piano lessons for all levels of students on Thursday and Friday afternoons. Please email us for pricing, more information and to set up an appointment.

Acting

Acting/Dramatic Play (Ages 3-5) - Children will have fun while exploring dramatic play, self expression, and creative movement, while working on Motor Development skills. They will explore acting through props, games, music and movement. Students will also be introduced to  following directions, spatial awareness and taking turns, coordination, body awareness, and self-confidence. 

 

Acting (Private Lessons) - Students will learn audition techniques, character development, script analysis, scene work and audition preparation.  Whether you’re a beginner, or a seasoned actor, you will be challenged at your personal skill level, all skill levels are welcome. Yoga

Baby & Me Yoga (Pre-natal & post-natal up to 18 months)- This yoga series is designed for moms & dads to-be and moms, dads & babies!

Whether you are a mom or dad to-be, a mom or dad with a baby or just want to join an amazing group and practice yoga - come check out our class. We will breathe, move, stretch & flow. Breathe, move, stretch and flow with baby, or let baby nap while you do! This is a come as you are class to connect parents, babies & friends. We will modify as needed, practice yoga, mindfulness, laugh and yes savasana (resting pose)! If you have never done yoga but always wanted to check it out or if you are a regular yogi - this is the class for you. Led by a Certified Yoga Instructor, we practice positive, fun, thoughtfully sequenced yoga & you might just hear your favorite song as you move and flow. Of course, Dads can join too. Join us as we grow our yoga community. All levels welcome.

Yoga (Adult)Join us for thoughtfully sequenced classes, taught by a Certified Yoga Instructor, in an energetic, challenging 60-75 minute class. We will breathe, move, stretch & flow. Whether you are a first time yogi or have been practicing for years and just want to join an amazing group and practice yoga - come check out our class. You will be guided through a combination of intentional breathing, Sun Salutations, foundational poses with both holding & flowing (Vinyasa) movement to help you strengthen, improve alignment and balance. We focus on building strength, focus, confidence, and connection. We combine Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin and Power Yoga elements in our practice. Classes are fun, challenging and judgment free, we practice with music and end with a relaxing Savasana. You might just hear your favorite song!  Modifications & Adjustments offered as needed. Make time just for you & meet us on the mat. Join us as we grow our yoga community. Namaste. All levels welcome.

Pre-K Yoga (Ages 3-5)- Yoga is fun for everyone! Children will transform into beautiful trees, twinkling stars, playful puppies, tall mountains, brave warriors, peaceful butterflies and so much more as they practice yoga.

Kid’s Yoga- Taught by a Certified Yoga Instructor, your child will learn safe yoga poses, breath and flow in a non-competitive, energy filled class. This class will work on flexibility, coordination, balance and posture. Yoga helps develop focus, concentration and patience (great for preschoolers & school aged children). This class will include learning intentional breathing, strengthening muscles, body awareness, basic anatomy and ability to relax (yes, they love the savasana!). Yoga can help children's self-esteem & confidence by reinforcing non-judgment and positivity.  All levels welcome.

Kid’s through Tween Yoga- This is a multi-age, all levels class for kids from 5 years to pre-teens. If you have been looking for a class to compliment your child’s dance, sport, busy schedule, to strengthen or reduce stress & learn mindfulness, this is it! Taught by a Certified Yoga Instructor, your child will be guided through yoga poses, breathing and flow (moving from one pose to another) in a non-competitive, music and energy filled class. Each class will be a combination of mindful breathing, Sun Salutations, foundational poses with both holding & flowing movement to help strengthen, improve alignment and balance. Yoga is the perfect combination of strengthening, connection and relaxation. This class will teach mindfulness and yoga skills that can be used on and off the yoga mat. Yoga can help reduce stress, anxiety and build confidence by reinforcing non-judgment and positivity. Join us as we grow our yoga practice. All levels welcome.

Cooking

Pre-K Cooking (Ages 3-5)- This class introduces children to the world of cooking and preparing food! Students will experience the pleasures of preparing and enjoying foods that are both delicious and nutritious. Students will learn the basics of cooking: chopping, spreading, mixing, measuring and listen to books on food while exploring many healthy ingredients and recipes. (To protect the health of each child, we cannot except children who have strict dietary needs, such as gluten free, dairy free, or other food allergies). 

 

Kids Cooking In our hands-on cooking class,  kids will create foods from different cultures while they explore rich colors, shapes, textures, and names of all ingredients as they chop, dice, spread, mix, measure, and exercise all their senses. They will have fun while learning math, science, and develop valuable skills such as following directions, taking turns, teamwork,  making healthier food choices and so much more! We’re excited to see our great little chefs in the kitchen! (To protect the health of each child, we cannot except children who have strict dietary needs, such as gluten free, dairy free, or other food allergies).

Language Arts

Pre-K Spanish and Spanish 2 - We offer a class after preschool for 4-year-old children by two preschool teachers, Mrs. Wernstrum and Mrs. Balos. Spanish is taught in a warm, friendly environment with age appropriate games, crafts and activities. There is also a multi-level class for 5-year-olds and older Thursdays at 3:30-4:30 pm. Elementary aged children are learning at their own level. 

Class Locations:

All Dance & Yoga Classes- are located in our Dance Studio on the 2nd floor of the Education Building. By the Nursery School Gate there is a door on the left, walk upstairs and the Dance Room in the first door on the right.

 

Yoga- is in the Dance Studio upstairs on the 2nd floor.

 

Music and Drama Room- is located on the 2nd floor of the Education Building. By the Nursery School Gate there is a door on the left, walk upstairs and the Music and Drama Room just past the Dace Studio, the 5th door on the right.

 

Cooking- is located in Trever Hall in the Courtyard.

 

Soccer- is held on the Lawn in front of the Nursery School on your left, as you come up the stairs.

When it rains: Soccer is located in Trever Hall in the Courtyard.

 

Spanish- is in Room 1 of the Nursery School.
