Ballet is the "backbone" on all dance training. In ballet the student will learn grace, elegance, technique, discipline, flexibility, stamina, and endurance.
Pre-K Ballet- Students will be introduced to ballet through music and creative movement, while learning basic ballet vocabulary and positions. Ballet teaches students about spatial awareness, coordination, body awareness, flexibility and self-expression.
Beginning Ballet- Students will learn the basic fundamentals of classical ballet. Class will focus on basic ballet technique, vocabulary and musicality. Students will be introduced to elementary barre, center work, and across the floor. Students are also introduced to body awareness, coordination, and self expression.
Intermediate Ballet- Students will learn the fundamentals of classical ballet. Class will focus on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, terminology/vocabulary and musicality. Students will be introduced to fundamental barre work, center work, across the floor, combinations, and choreography. Students are encouraged to focus on body awareness, alignment, and muscle awareness, working on positions of the arms, direction of the body, and movement quality.
Advanced Ballet (Pre-Pointe and Pointe)- Students will learn the fundamentals of Pointe such as strengthening the body and alignment. Students will work on flexibility and conditioning exercises to prepare our dancers for pointe shoes.

Parent & Me Tap/Beginning Tap-Bond with your child as you learn the basic techniques of tap dancing, together!
***Class is a beginning/basic level tap class.
Intermediate/ Advanced Tap- In Tap class, the dancer's foot and shoe acts as a drum, and each part of the shoe makes a particular beat and sound. In this class students will work on tempos, rhythms, Tap combinations and inspiring choreographies.
Jazz & Contemporary
Intermediate/ Advanced Jazz- combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance. Classes include warm up, isolations, stretches, across the floor progressions, and choreography combinations. Exercises focus on increasing flexibility and strength, rhythms and isolation of body parts, and expressing personal style. As students progress, the curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. Students will also practice precision and rhythm, personal style, and self-expression.
Dance Fun/Creative Movement-Be free and fly like a bird! Swim slow like a fish! Stomp like a strong elephant! Dance fun allows children to express, as they learn the basic forms of dance through creative movement, stories, music and rhythmical patterns, all while fostering independence and body awareness. Students will be introduced to the concepts of body, energy, space, & time as they explore themselves, their imagination and creativity.
Pre-K Hip Hop- Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, along with traditional hip hop styles such as, popping, locking, and grooving.. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Great for learning rhythm, developing gross motor skill, self-expression, and body awareness.
Beginning Hip Hop- This class provides a structured method of learning various Hip Hop dance movements in a fun-filled and vibrant class environment. Instructors use hip music to create fun cutting edge choreographies and combinations. Hip Hop helps students to increase flexibility, strength, precision, and creativity to find their own style, boosting self-confidence.
Intermediate/ Advanced Hip Hop- Classes include warm up, moving across the floor, and style explorations (popping, locking, gliding, contemporary). This class provides a structured method of learning various Hip Hop dance movements in a fun-filled and vibrant class environment. Instructors use hip music to create fun cutting edge choreographies and combinations. Hip Hop helps students to increase flexibility, strength, precision, and creativity to find their own style, boosting self-confidence
Music Fun- Music Fun introduces children to the world of music. Children will learn about different instruments and how they make sound. They will have an opportunity to play many different percussion instruments, as well as the piano. Students will work on language development through learning to read and sing introductory songs, while having the freedom to move and express themselves through sounds and music.
Children’s Choir- If you love to sing, this ensemble is for you! If you are in 2nd-8th grades, this ensemble is for you. If you go to BFUMC, this ensemble is for you! Even if you DON’T go to BFUMC, this ensemble is for you! Together we will sing, learn to read music, work on our voices, and make friends. We’ll perform at BFUMC worship services and other events throughout the school year.
Acting for Youth- In acting class, students will learn audition techniques, character development, script analysis and general acting exercises. We will start the class with an improv warm-up, and then go into scene work. This class is for youth, weather you’re a beginner, or a seasoned actor, you will be challenged at your personal skill level, all skill levels are welcome.
Acting/Dramatic Play-Children will have fun while exploring dramatic play, self expression, and creative movement, while working on Motor Development skills. They will explore acting through games, music and movement.
Musical Theater (Triple Threat: Singing, Dancing, Acting)- For the student who loves to sing, dance and act. The class focuses on vocal projection, basic dance technique and the fundamentals of acting. Although our Musical Theater class is geared towards performance, we teach acting, singing and dance skills basics to our young performers all while having a
Yoga for Kids
Yoga for Pre-K & Kids Yoga- is fun for everyone! Children will transform into beautiful trees, twinkling stars, playful puppies, tall mountains, brave warriors, peaceful butterflies and so much more as they practice yoga. Taught by a certified Yoga Instructor, your child will learn safe yoga poses, breath and flow in a non-competitive, energy filled class. This class will work on flexibility, coordination, balance and posture. Yoga helps develop focus, concentration and patience (great for preschoolers & school aged children). This class will help increase body awareness, basic anatomy and ability to relax (yes, they love the savasana!). Yoga helps children's self-esteem & confidence by reinforcing non-judgment and positivity.
Cooking- introduces children to the world of food! Students will experience the pleasures of preparing and enjoying foods that are both delicious and notorious. Students will learn the basics of cooking while exploring many healthy nutritious ingredients and recipes.
Spanish- We offer a class after preschool for 4-year-old children by two preschool teachers, Mrs. Wernstrum and Mrs. Balos. Spanish is taught in a warm, friendly environment with age appropriate games, crafts and activities. There is also a later class for 5-year-olds and older.
Yoga (Vinyasa Flow Style)- Vinyasa means breathe to movement. During your practice you will move through thoughtfully sequenced asanas (poses), in an energetic challenging class accessible to all levels. Through a combination of holding poses & flowing movement you will can improve alignment, balance and strength. Classes are fun, set to music in a judgment free atmosphere. Make time just for you & leave feeling refreshed and energized!
Childcare is available in the Nursery $2.00 per child.
Zumba- Zumba® fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program that promises a great workout! Zumba® is a one hour class of caloric-burning, body-energizing, inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for LIFE! The routines feature interval-training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. (Cancelled at this time)
YOGA (VINYASA STYLE)-An invigorating style of yoga that focuses on linking breath to movement. We welcome all levels and emphasize the importance of working at your own pace and developing a deeper sense of body awareness. In our class, you will learn fundamental yoga postures that move in and out to complete a vinyasa sequence - a meditation in motion. Join us for yoga in a positive, encouraging environment. Classes are set to music & are open to all levels. We offer childcare in the nursery. Make time for you & meet us on the mat! Namaste.
